What can an AI assistant do in Slack?
A good place to start is a task with a clear input and a result you can review: summarize a client email thread, turn meeting notes into a delivery plan, or pull the key points from a project document. Instead of copying everything between tabs, connect the tools that contain the relevant information and describe the outcome in Slack.
Geniusly supports connections to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, GitHub, Linear, and Slack. Connecting one app does not connect the others. Start with the app needed for your first task, then add more context when the work calls for it.
Find the latest launch brief in Google Drive. Summarize the deliverables, open questions, and next steps in five bullets. Flag anything the brief does not specify.

Three workflows to start with
Make a client conversation easier to pick up
Ask Geniusly to summarize a named Gmail conversation and list the questions still waiting for an answer. Request a follow-up draft that uses the client's context, then check the wording before you send it yourself.
Prepare a weekly update
Point to a specific project document, spreadsheet, or set of notes. Ask for progress, blockers, and decisions in a consistent format. State the reporting period so the update does not mix old work with this week's changes.
Turn a handoff into a plan
Share the brief and ask for deliverables, proposed owners, dependencies, and unanswered questions. Treat proposed assignments and dates as suggestions to confirm with your team.
For a detailed example, use the client follow-up workflow.
Get started in your workspace
- Sign up and add Geniusly to Slack. Choose the workspace where you want to work and review Slack's installation permissions. Your workspace may require an administrator's approval.
- Open a private conversation with Geniusly. Start with one task and connect the app that holds its context. For email work, say
Connect my Gmailin the DM. - Make the request specific. Name the source, the time period, and the output you want. Ask Geniusly to flag missing information.
- Review the result. Check names, facts, dates, and any commitments before using a draft with your team or clients.
The Gmail connection guide walks through your first email request. You can also browse all supported tools.
Choose a task you can check
Start with a repeated task you already understand. Give the assistant a known document or email conversation and compare its result with the source. This makes it easier to judge whether it has saved work and where your instructions need more detail.
For a simple nudge at a fixed time, a reminder may be all you need. An agent is more useful when the task needs context from another tool and a newly prepared result, such as a summary or draft.
Geniusly's connected-app access currently supports reading information and preparing results in the conversation. Sending Gmail messages and editing connected-app records are not available in this release. Saved preferences and explicit requests do not grant access to unconnected accounts.
Questions & answers
Do I have to own the Slack workspace?
You need permission to install Geniusly in the workspace. Slack installation and approval settings depend on the workspace; ask an owner or administrator if installation is restricted.
Does Geniusly automatically read every connected tool?
Connect the accounts you want to use and specify the context needed for your request. Geniusly uses your authorized connections; an account you have not connected is not available to the task.
Can it send emails for me?
Geniusly can help prepare email text in the conversation. Gmail sending and other connected-app writes are not available in the current release. Review the text and send it from your email app.
Can I keep working away from Slack?
After starting in Slack, you can link WhatsApp or text to the same workspace. Phone replies are short; files and action approvals stay in Slack. See Getting started for linking instructions.
