Client follow-ups.
With the context attached.

For an agency owner, the work behind a follow-up is often finding the last decision, the missing input, and the right next step. Give that preparation a repeatable process in Slack, then review the reply before it reaches a client.

Start with one kind of client follow-up

Pick a recurring situation with a clear purpose: missing brand assets, feedback on a proposal, approval on a draft, or the next step after a client meeting. A narrowly defined ask is easier to check than a request to manage every client relationship.

Decide where the source of truth lives. The last client email may be in Gmail, the brief in Google Drive, and the internal handoff in Slack. Connect only the tools needed for the task and name the sources in your request.

Geniusly can help read the authorized context and prepare a reply in the conversation. This workflow automates preparation, not the sending of client emails. Gmail sending and connected-app edits are not available in the current release.

1. Establish what actually needs an answer

Start in a private Geniusly DM so client email context is not accidentally turned into a shared-channel update. If Gmail is not connected, follow the Gmail setup guide first.

Example: outstanding client inputs
Review the Acme launch email conversation from this week and the launch brief in Google Drive. List the inputs we are still waiting for, the last agreed next step, and any stated deadlines. Separate confirmed facts from assumptions and include source references.

Use your actual client, reporting period, and document. These are example instructions, not a live client result.

Check whether the client has already replied and whether the brief is the current version. If the source is incomplete or two messages disagree, resolve that before asking for a polished reply.

2. Ask for a reply with clear boundaries

Example: a concise follow-up
Prepare a friendly follow-up of no more than 100 words asking for the outstanding assets. Briefly explain the next step they unblock. Use only deadlines already agreed in the thread. If none exists, ask when the client expects to share the files. Return the text here for review.

The result is a draft in your Geniusly conversation. It is not sent to the client or saved into Gmail automatically.

Specify your usual tone, the maximum length, and any promises to avoid. If the client is waiting on your team, ask for an update that acknowledges your next step instead of requesting work the client has already completed.

3. Review, send, and record the next step

  • Is this the correct client and conversation?
  • Are the requested inputs still outstanding?
  • Does every deadline or commitment come from an agreed source?
  • Does the wording fit the relationship and the situation?
  • Is the next step clear enough for the client to answer?

Make any edits, then send the approved text yourself from the appropriate email thread. Record the follow-up date and next action in your existing project process. Geniusly does not currently update those connected-app records for you.

Try the process on one client before extending it across an account list. Judge the result by how much preparation it saves and how much correction the draft needs. A high number of generated drafts is less useful than one accurate reply that moves a project forward.

Keep the useful parts repeatable

Keep the same request structure for each follow-up: source, time period, open question, tone, and output format. Update the client and source details every time. For a team handoff, ask for a separate internal summary that leaves out information the channel does not need.

The same approach works for a weekly client update: gather confirmed progress, identify blockers, and prepare a brief draft. See how the broader AI assistant for Slack fits around your team's existing tools, or explore Geniusly for agencies.

Questions & answers

Can Geniusly automate client follow-ups end to end?

The current release supports reading connected context and preparing follow-up text. It does not send Gmail messages, change project records, or run a complete client outreach sequence.

Do I need to move my clients into Slack?

No. You can work with Geniusly from your own Slack workspace and use authorized Gmail context. The client can continue communicating through the existing email thread.

What if the source does not contain a deadline?

Ask Geniusly to flag the missing date and request the client's expected timing. Check the draft yourself; do not treat an inferred date as an agreed commitment.

Can I use this for several clients?

Use a separate, clearly scoped request for each client. Identify the intended conversation and documents so details from different accounts are not mixed into one draft.
